Dan Dyer goes national, Austin Collins takes on Europe

Dan Dyer's self-titled album made waves locally when it was released on Fat Caddy Records this spring. The Statesman's Michael Corcoran even placed it #5 on his list of the top 10 local albums from the year's first half.

Now the whole country is getting a chance to heap praise upon Dyer thanks to this week's national re-release.

Dan Dyer has made it as high as #3 among iTunes' bestselling R&B/Soul albums, thanks in part to its $5.99 download price. That's a tremendous value, though I must say one of my favorite things about the physical album is its gorgeous packaging. You can still order the CD from Fat Caddy.

Dyer's "Love Chain" single will go to national radio the second week in September. Fall will be festival time, with Dyer scheduled to play the AT&T Blue Room stage during ACL Fest and then New Orleans' Voodoo Music Festival in October.

In other good Fat Caddy news, Austin Collins has a chance to be big in Europe thanks to a new distribution deal with a top German label. Blue Rose Records — also home-away-from-home to Steve Earle, Son Volt, the Drive-By Truckers, and many others — will release Something Better and Roses Are Black to the European market this weekend.
