PROFILE
Vince Gill, Tony Brown and Rodney Crowell. You know them well as hitmakers and architects of contemporary country music. But back in the ‘70s, back in the day, they were the Cherry Bombs. Along with guitar ace Richard Bennett, steel wizard Hank Devito, and the rock-solid rhythm section of Emory Gordy and Larrie Londin, they were Crowell’s backup band as he struggled to get his career off the ground. In short, the Cherry Bombs were the coolest, ass-kickingest country outfit in the land. Then they were gone, each splintering off to find their own kind of (considerable) success in music.
