SXSW wrapup
What an amazing weekend!
Friday morning I met the Eli Young Band for breakfast. That afternoon I headed over to Jovita's to catch Reckless Kelly, M Ward, The Duhks, and Cracker/Camper van Beethoven in the all-acoustic Harp Magazine/Sugar Hill Records showcase. Friday night it was off to Mother Egan's to hang with the Eli Young Band and catch Mando Saenz, Bruce Robison, and EYB in the Carnival showcase.
Saturday the family and I headed to Town Lake for my kids' favorite, Joe McDermott. Then Saturday evening I caught the magical Los Super 7, featuring Calexico, Rick Trevino, Ruben Ramos, Raul Malo, Charlie Sexton, Joe Ely, Augie Myers, and others in a free-spirited tribute to Texas border music at Las Manitas.
Today the family and I headed to Gruene Hall to see the McKay Brothers and just enjoy the great weather.
How can this weekend possibly be topped?

Austin Collins, Fat Caddy Records
Thanks to McGuckin Entertainment PR and BMI for the invitation to the "Howdy Texas" dinner last night at Stubb's. Charlie Robison's 45-minute set, though brief, was electrifying as always.
The highlight of the evening was getting to meet singer/songwriter Austin Collins and Fat Caddy Records founder Jon Patillo. Both gents were nice as could be. And it was fun to meet some people who knew who I was...unlike most of the press/industry types there who couldn't have cared less. Thanks, guys, and I look forward to running into you both again sometime soon.
